The Nokia X2 runs under S40 6th Edition, which does not allow the user to hide items on the gallery or file manager.
If the feature is like this then what is the use of having 16 GB card??/
All the confidencial photos which I doesn't want to share with others also shown in the photo gallary ..Because of s40 edition we can not use softwares like explore or file hide also ..
so If you upgrade NOKIA X2 TO " SYMBIAN OS " EDITION ...
It will be worth having 16 GB card
But if is not possible to upgrade to s60, why not implement some new features in the old s40? Is old but is currently used in Nokia and ,honestly, all the consumers deserve attention,
I'm not an s40 owner, but I'm a low class consumer, I have an 6120c, the most cheap s60v3 in the market. We need attention from Nokia if it plans to mantain us as clients.
My hardware is capable to use some features that Nokia is not thinking to make possible, just by market interests, but I believe the best investment is in satisfaction and attention, independently from how much you paid for your phone..

So by your logic Nokia should include every single feature that people request?
S40 is designed to be simple, if they started adding everything that everybody requests it would lose it's simplicity which is it's main selling point. S40 has also gained many features from S60 over the years, but obviously you can't expect everything as it's designed to run on lesser, cheaper hardware. If people do need to add specialist extra features then they need to buy a smartphone instead which is open to such modifications.
If a specific feature is important to a user they really should do their research before buying a specific model. The feature in question on this topic is not standard on many other manufacturers non-smart phones and the user does have the option of using a pass code to prevent unauthorised access to their phone.
Don't forget that: most powerfull hardware maybe is more expensive, larger, unsafe to use (prevent robbery?), fragile...
You are very right in your assertions, but we are not talking about the same things.
s40 is designed to be simple, but s40 users maybe don't like it (generally don't know it), the suggestion to include new features make possible an option to hide advanced features. I'm not expecting to see s40 hardwares with powerfull functions like Hi-Res video playback or 3D games, but for simple things.
Examplifying, the current Ovi Store App for old phones is not an application, but only a redirection to Ovi Store website. Why not create a simple OWN app to show what is available for your "old" phone?!
I bought my 6120c NEW in this current year, and Nokia don't think in support or update it, except to block features and correct security failures used to run apps from other models.
This is not a trust relationship.
Some countries and people only receive the cull.
6120c is small, smart, "cheap", 3G enabled, run s60v3 and Java apps and support VoIP calls: ideal for who don't have some money to expend in actual smartphones, that has much more functions (but also more expensive).
I believe that I paid the same price from a greater nSeries phone outside here, and also believe the people of my country has not the same incomes.
In other countries I also believe that have people who needs aceess to features but is not capable to have it not because of hardware limitations of your phones, but because they don't have attention from the manufactures, maybe to force bought better models.
Some people don't have access to have the best hardware phones, but why don't use the existent less in this maximum capabilities?
Thanks for attention psychomania
@ phycomania's 2nd post.
" the user does have the option of using a pass code to prevent unauthorized access to their phone."
But sir if we active this option we will face a serious problem..
If some one try to unlock the password ..If they put the password 3 times falsely the Sim may get locked permanently ...
This could be a even serious problem and I know it can be solved afterwards in the nokia care ...
But possibility of the 3 false password is more dangerous ..

There are 2 different pass codes.. One to lock the phone and the other for the SIM..What psychomania means is for the Phone ..
But farby sir
If your friend asks your mobile just to check the features as you brought it recently ..What you will do ? How can he check the features if the whole phone is locked ?
All we nokia X2 users want is a photo hide software which allow us to hide our confidencial photos.
Where in nokia X2,It is having S40 6th Edition, which does not allow the user to hide items on the gallery or file manager.
" We are not expecting to see s40 hardwares with powerfull functions like Hi-Res video playback or 3D games, but for simple things."
Now there are to many IFs...
As per the suggestions above and in other threads that you have started.. simplest of solution is BUY A SYMBIAN... If you want a family of 4 to travel comfortably in their own vehicle.. you can't go on demanding the Motorbike manufacturer to provide facility.. you HAVE to buy a Tata Nano atleast.. it is as smple as that..
lol farby sir
Photo hiding feature is not that mamoth task as converting motorbike to car
If they are capable of fixing the hanging and camera performences in the phone .Why can't this simple feature ..
We are not telling them to provide a FM recorder , powerfull functions like Hi-Res video playback or 3D games, but for simple thing..
btw thanks for replying I ll keep on giving you kuddo's for each reply

Its not that way sharanukumar.. Its the limitations of the technology / platform...
... and regarding the Kudos.. its only if the post was helpful...
Use Fexplorer and just rename the extention of the file you want to hide.
for example: if I want to hide a 3gp video file named xart.3gp then, I just add x to it and rename to xart.3gpx.
Now this file would be hidden in your gallery and in next restart it would be gone.
to access it again rename it as it was earlier.
I want to plug my USB to my nokiaN9000 is it possible? If not !
nokia should think about that It does require a little high voltage battery/
it is not difficult? Please nokia please
They will never update the X2 to symbian, for a start it does not have the necessary internal hardware.
If you want a symbian based device you will need to sell your X2 and buy something that better suits your needs.
If you don't want others to see what is in your gallery on the X2 then do not allow them to look at it, simple as that. You could even lock it with a code.
