Problems, problems, problems and more problems.

[ Edited ]

Why are the HD videos have an effect "jelly"? It's incredibly annoying to go that way.

Re: Problems, problems, problems and more problems.

As I read the 'Rolling shutter' is a defect that effect. It occurs in low-quality cameras (like the iPhone) and CMOS sensors. It is assumed that the Nokia N8 has a Carl Zeiss (assumed :whistling: ) and a high quality camera. So what happens ...?

A more in depth explanation regarding this effect can be read HERE.

Re: Problems, problems, problems and more problems.

Nokia N8 has a mechanical global shutter to avoid the rolling shutter effect for still image capture.

The rolling shutter effect in video has been greatly reduced with each N8 firmware update, and I rarely notice it with Belle.

It is important to use video editing software that can handle the variable frame rate of the mp4 files created by CMOS camcorders with rolling shutter - or use video editing software that has an option to lock onto the actual frames and adjust the timing.

Do you have trouble in a specific situation?

I have no problems in specific situations, but in my N8 the 'Rolling shutter' looks considerably. The gel effect is quite remarkable and very annoying. In 90% of recorded movies can be seen that defect.

Can video stabilization help with this?

Nope. The wobble effect is still there with stabilisation on.
