Hi guys, I was messing around with my phone, and accidently deleted the Ovi Files and Ovi Contacts icons/apps from the phone. But now I have no idea how to get them back.
I can't find any answers or support on this anywhere :-(
I tried a reset, but that just did the settings...would a hard reset restore the phone back to it's original state? (programs/apps and all) if so, then how?
Thanks for reading.
Solved! Go to Solution.
You can reinstall the firmware on the E55 with Nokia Software Updater.

Hmm I've been trying this :-( but the update fails. I get a message telling me the device has lost connection. and to turn off and on, then try again. same thing happens! I'm using USB cable.
I'm scared of bricking it now.
I think it may have something to do with encryption. I shall try in abit.
Hmm. In that case I suggest you reset the E55. Dial *#7370# 12345 reformat, you'll lose all data. Make a backup first and restore without the settings. Keep in mind that OVI files and contacts are a online service.
Thanks for the code, I shall try that next.
But just before I do it, will any software that was preinstalled on the phone, be loaded back on? as in, Advanced communication manager. It's third party, but was on the phone when I bought it.
lol, I couldnt help my self, and tried it. All third party software that came with the phone is gone :-( and ovi files and ovi contact are still not on the phone.
Log in to OVI with a PC and check the settings.
Thanks gabriele, those are what I was looking for. It seems factory resets, don't essentially restore the phone to how it is received "from factory".
