Default code is 12345. If you have set your own, use that. If you have forgotten the one set by you then the ONLY place to get it reset is Nokia Care. They may ask a proof of ownership (Bill / Invoice)

Is this for a Nokia E63 as well? If yes, you can use Nokia Suite to update the phone's software. Check this link: Nokia Suite - Download and Support.
By the way, do you get any specific error when trying to open your messages? Are you referring to text messages, or to email messages? Which connection do you use when you say you're unable to connect to internet, Wi-Fi or mobile data? Are you unable to browse mobile websites or open all we-based apps? Please provide us more details about the issue so we can search for other possible fixes.
