conflicting reports as to the nokia X7 having 2 speakers rather than 4.

Something we have seen with the X2,IT WAS A DESIGN

this would be a big letdown if it was only 2.

SO some comfirmation would be nice to clarify  if its 2 or 4.

I read it in articles somewhere, X7 only has 2 speakers, the other 2 are for decorations only.

Both the X2 and X7 have two speakers, not four. The design of some models have split speaker holes giving the illusion of more speakers. Nokia specs state stereo speakers, as in two. Not sure why this Topic is relevant to the N series board though?

Posts where moved by mods in many cases from numerous users anyway thats there choice to move them

Personally i think 4 speakers would have made this device great,rather than gimmicking the design as in the C7/X2 to give it the look like its got something it does not have.

Four speakers is utterly pointless in a phone. Increased volume and clarity can be achieved by better quality or larger speakers. The design of the X2 was not made to deceive people.

I see your point but to have the full feel of stereo sound i would find the 4 speakers better.
One thing for sure they are better placed than they are on the N8 and E7.

Larger speakers will be a much better choice than more speakers as tiny elements and membrands would never give you the perfect sound anyway on a phone.

There are enough external speakers out there which would provide you with quite better sound as they also would allow more power from their own power source.

I really don't care too much where the speakers are located or how many there are, I tend to use decent quality headphones if I want to listen to music, but then again, I may be  a bit odd !!

You only need two good speakers to get the full feel of stereo sound. Four would make zero difference in the space provided inside even the largest of current phones.

The N95 had the best speakers I'd ever heard on a phone, but they would never fit in the current crop of handsets ! Although 4 speakers would make superb surround sound for a fly or an ant stood in the middle of the phone screen

Agreed Carman. I guess they managed to use some more space for the speakers to give the sound depth along with a pair of quality speakers of course. The sound was quite open and clear. You could easily separate instruments from each others - also instrument tracks which was more in the background of the mix.

Whish Nokia could make a Fender phone with 2x12" speakers!

Having seen recent photos of an X7 opened up for the FCC it appears the speakers are only at the bottom of device not very clever imo.
