I have an X6 16GB, which I turn off at night when I go to bed, about once a week I switch it on in the morning and the date hasn't changed from the previous day. The same problem occurs whether I have automatic time update on or off.
Also once or twice a week it will download emails with the date 01/01/2000 instead of todays date. I can log into my emails via Outlook Express on my p.c and the date will be correct there.
I have software version v20 installed, the same problems still occurred on the previous firmware as well.
Any help greatfully received

I'm afraid I cannot comment on the problems with the date problem on the handset, but I have a similar issue with Nokia Messaging on my email. I sometimes get emails come through that are dated 01/01/0000 for some reason. I assume it is a bug in Nokia's software as I've not noticed this in Outlook.
Out of curiosity, have you tried leaving your phone on overnight to see if it copes with the date change while it is turned on? Why do you turn the handset off at night anyway?

I'd sugges you restoring your phone to default settings and try again:
settings > phone > phone mgmt. > factory settings > It will ask your security code, if you haven't set this up before it would be 12345
let us know how it goes.
cheers.

While that could potentially fix the handset date issue, it doesn't fix the problem with the email. I've already tried it.

I have the same problem.
When automatic adjust time set to on (factory default), date and time became incorrect after received some incoming calls. My mobile operator told me to set and keep it off, correct date and time manually. However date does not update after switching off the phone at night. What shall I do?

Same here. Date does not update when phone is switched off over night. V. 20.0.005, X6 16GB.
Going to mail the support...

Have just come onto the forum for the first time in a month to report the exact same problem with the date. Happened three times now. Not sure if it is after a call or not updating when switched on in the morning. Hope someone comes up with a solution.

If i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

Thanks for that jimmy - a little bit more info would be useful.
Unlike some, I realise it's not your problem... but is anything being done to get it sorted ?

Thanks jimmy. I had realised that, sort of makes me question what sort of company would provide a forum but not want any participation in it.... but I'll give it a try.

@jimmyireland.
this is a known error
all x6 are reported to be same its either a bug, or the auxilliary battery inside the phone needs to be replaced

Where did you get this info from? Not all X6 phones are affected. I bought mine on 1st May with version 20 software which has since been updated to version 21. I have never experienced this date problem with my phone. Sometimes I leave it on allnight, sometimes I switch it off. Last night I switched it off. Turned it on this morning and I have the correct date and time. This is another useless jimmyireland post. Unfortunately jimmyireland you do not know what you are talking about. If you cannot give proper advice in the forums then why answer them. Incorrect and misleading posts are know good to anyone. When are you going to wake up to yourself. Before stating all phones are infected with a problem get your facts straight first. It is people like you who give companies like Nokia a bad name.

I think jimmy was referring to the X6 losing date and time settings when the battery is removed for a short period... Not losing date / time on power off and power on.
That's how I read his post anyway.

The subject here is about switching the phone of at nigt and back on in the morning. The original poster said nothing about removing the battey.
If the above is how you understand jimmyirelands post then once again he is not answering the question or reading the post correctly. This is not surprising. Jimmy ireland has been doing this for years. He needs to learn how to read posts and give correct answers. Unfortunately his replies are inaccurate and misleading.

is there any solution how to fix this issue already available?
I have the same problem using nokia messaging and it becomes worser every day, I would say around 50% of all emails arrive with wron date 01/01/2000 and can't be read on the device

I messaged Nokia Care a week ago about the problem (and the way this forum wasn't exactly helping the problem). Haven't even had a reply.
A week ago I thought my X6 was the greatest product I had ever bought.... now I am having doubts.

Well, I have just been away for a week and still no response from Nokia. On the other hand the problem hasn't re-occured during that week.
But, I have apparently won £500,000.00 from a Nokia Promotion. ![]()
